Pressure Governor

A pressure governor is the control that manages engine speed to hold a set discharge pressure as demand changes. It keeps the pump pressure steady when lines open or close instead of letting it spike or sag.

In pressure mode, the governor watches the discharge pressure and adjusts engine speed to maintain it. When a second line opens and would otherwise drop the pressure, the governor speeds the engine to hold the setting.

It is a stabilizer, not a water source. A governor can hold a pressure only while the supply can deliver the flow; against a weak hydrant, no amount of governor action invents water that is not there.
