What's inside
Features built for pump-operator understanding.
Tank to Pump is designed to teach the why behind pump operations. It combines short lessons, visual simulation, scenario repetition, and training-math tools in one web-based experience.
Guided lessons for the first mental model.
Start with short, practical lessons that explain how water moves through the pump, what the major panel controls do, and why pressure changes when demand changes.
- Pump basics
- Panel anatomy
- Tank-to-pump
- Tank fill / recirculation
- Static and residual pressure
- Friction loss
- Pump discharge pressure
A generic side-mount panel built for learning.
V1 uses a stylized, generic side-mount pump panel. It is realistic enough to teach operational cause-and-effect without claiming to be an exact replica of any apparatus.
- Valve controls
- Throttle control
- Intake and discharge gauges
- Tank level
- Pump heat indicator
- Water supply status
- Flow-path highlights
Trace the water path.
When a learner opens a valve, the app highlights the path that changed. That turns pump operations from memorized steps into visible system behavior.
- Tank → Pump
- Pump → Discharge
- Pump → Tank fill / recirculation
- Hydrant → Pump
Practice decisions, not just definitions.
Branching scenarios give the learner a task, let them operate the panel, and coach them through common mistakes.
- First Line from Tank
- Recirculation and Heat
- Hydrant Transition
- Add a Second Line
- Weak Hydrant
- Drafting Failure
Learn what to do when the system is not behaving.
Troubleshooting scenarios start with an abnormal condition and ask the learner to diagnose the problem. The app shows consequences and coaches recovery.
- No water to the line
- Pump heat rising
- Weak supply
- Low intake warning
- Failed draft
- Wrong valve sequence
Roll a problem. Solve it on the live panel.
Practice Mode generates randomized pump-pressure problems. The learner sets up the lines, throttles into the target band, and holds it — then walks the worked math and common mistakes in the debrief.
Change the system and watch it react.
The panel's free-play supply setup lets learners change tank level, elevation, source availability, valve positions, and line configuration to see how the system responds.
Calculators that explain the math.
The training calculators are built for learning. Each one shows the formula, the inputs, the result, and the worked steps — never just a number.
- Friction Loss
- PDP Builder
- Reverse Flow
- Nozzle Flow & Reaction
- Fire Flow (NFA & Iowa)
- Hydrant Available Water
- Tank Duration
- Relay Pumping
- Standpipe / High-Rise
- Split Lay (Gated Wye)
- Tanker Shuttle
- Drafting & Lift
- Pump Chart Generator
- Foam Eductor Check
Simple group mode for training officers.
PlannedV1.5 is planned to add lightweight group support for crew-level training, including session codes, shared scenario launch, and basic completion summaries. Group mode is planned and is not part of the V1 public release.
