Tank-to-Pump & First Line

Arrival: Establishing Water Supply From the Tank

When an engine arrives at a working fire, the first water supply is almost always the booster tank. Before a hydrant can be connected, the tank keeps water moving to the line. The correct sequence on arrival is: engage the pump (if not auto-engaged), open tank-to-pump, set a working throttle, then open the discharge to the attack line. Skipping any step in that chain means no water at the nozzle when it is needed.
