Preconnect

A preconnect is an attack line already connected to a discharge and loaded at a fixed length, ready to pull and stretch. Its known length and hose make its pump pressure predictable enough to memorize.

Because a preconnect is always the same hose at the same length, its target pump pressure is the same every time at a given flow. That repeatability is what a laminated pump chart captures — one number per preconnect, ready at the panel.

Knowing your preconnects cold removes hesitation on the fireground. The operator who has the pressures memorized can put the first line in target range without doing the math under stress.
