Hard Suction Hose
Hard suction hose is rigid, non-collapsing hose used to draft water from a static source up into the pump. Its reinforced wall keeps it from collapsing under the vacuum the pump creates while priming.
Because drafting works by pulling a vacuum on the suction side, ordinary supply hose would simply flatten. Hard suction has a stiff, reinforced wall that holds its shape against that vacuum, so the pump can lift water from a pond, drop tank, or other static source.
A clean, airtight connection at every coupling is what makes the draft catch. A single leak lets air in faster than the primer can pull it out, so handling and seating hard suction carefully is as much a part of drafting as the pump work itself.
