Pump Discharge Pressure Builder
Module 7 · ~15 min
Build a pump discharge pressure target step by step — nozzle pressure, friction loss, appliance loss, and elevation — and understand how errors in each component compound.

What Is Pump Discharge Pressure?
Pump discharge pressure (PDP) is the pressure the pump must produce at its outlet so that after all losses in the hose, appliances, and elevation, the nozzle receives exactly the pressure it needs to function correctly. PDP is not nozzle pressure — it is nozzle pressure plus everything that subtracts from it between the pump and the nozzle tip. Every pump discharge pressure calculation starts by identifying those subtractions.
