Five Pump Myths
Myth One: Friction Loss Is a Fixed Amount Per Length
The myth says every section of hose costs the same pressure, period. The truth: friction loss depends on FLOW, and not gently — it scales with the square of the flow. The same lay that barely costs anything at a trickle becomes a pressure furnace at a big-line flow. Any rule of thumb that quotes one number per length is silently assuming one specific flow.
