Tank to Pump

Pump Operations

Recirculation

Recirculation is routing some pump water back to the tank to keep water moving through a pump that is turning but not discharging much. In the training model it gives the pump a cooling path so it does not overheat at idle against closed lines.

A pump churning against closed discharges turns its energy into heat. Cracking a recirculation or tank-fill path lets a little water move through and carry that heat away, protecting the pump during lulls in flow.

It is a management habit, not a flow source. Recirculation keeps the pump healthy while the operator waits for the next line; it does not add water to the attack lines.
