Tank to Pump

Flow Rate

Flow rate is how much water is moving through a line per unit of time, usually measured in gallons per minute. It is the quantity that drives friction loss, tank duration, and stream effectiveness.

Almost every pump-operations number bends to the flow. Friction loss scales with its square, tank water empties in proportion to it, and a nozzle's knockdown power depends on it. Flow is the hidden variable behind most panel behavior.

The operator rarely sets flow directly — it falls out of the nozzle, the tip size, and the pressure being delivered. Understanding flow means understanding that opening the system wider moves more water and, at the same throttle, shows less pressure.
